(Before It's News)

The government of China have started making efforts for its populace to adopt their locally made versions of GPS systems.

China Pushes for Adoption

In a new policy cum decree that was recently announced, the government has announced that users should adopt Beidou rather than GLONAS and Galileo which are the two most popular and foreign GPS systems available in the country.

The announcement came from the ministry of transport and they have made it mandatory for vehicles carrying what they termed as dangerous articles to switch to Beidou the next time they are due for a system upgrade. The dangerous articles is used in reference to passenger vehicles and heavy duty trucks.

Motorists who are driving their own cars are currently exempted from this forced switching. However, the government does have a mind of encouraging or inducing those in rural areas to quickly adopt this measure across board so that they can reduce what they perceive as an overt dependence on foreign navigation systems.

The Chinese are known to have what their government might regard as undue affinity for Apple Maps.
