The patent battle between Apple and Samsung that has been playing out across courtrooms all over the globe seems to have been settled in Holland as far as the judge who ruled the case is concerned.
The judge was reported to have ruled that Samsung, the makers of the Galaxy family of devices did not infringe upon the patent rights of Apple with their design. The lawsuit was against Galaxy tablets that ranged from 7.7 inch screens to 10.1. In a follow up announcement from the company that won the case, they reiterated that they believe that Apple was not the first to design a tablet with either a rectangular shape, rounded corners or both.
They went on to say that the origins of their design that they are contesting over can be found in various devices that came before their product. It does look like the Dutch court agrees with the people at Samsung and have thrown out the case. Things are yet to completely swing to the favour of either side in an overwhelming way.
The issue of Apple’s iPad design and their purported infringement have come to have added significance as the whole industry is watching to see how all this cases will go.
