There were literally thousands of new, cool tech items showcased last week at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. One very cool new item that appeared was the Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC – the company’s first ‘interpersonal PC’ and certainly one of the first of a new category of PC’s we’ll see entering the market – The Table PC.
The Horizon Table PC is a multi-user, multi-touch, multi-mode all-in one desktop for both work and play. From 9 – 5 it’s a 27″ high performance desktop powered by an Intel Core i7 processor that comes with up to a 1TB hard drive and up to 8GB DDR3. It’s large backlit screen can be seen from virtually any angle and it’s NVIDIA GeForce graphics provide smooth and seamless video playback, rich deep graphics and Dolby Home Theatre v4 audio. Sporting Windows 8 operating system and touch technology, this machine is ready to handle any work task you throw at it.
When all the work is done and it’s time to play, just release the smart hinge, lay it flat and unleash the Lenovo Aura interface (UI). This UI allows multiple users to play, learn or enjoy multi-media content together on one screen. Users can choose from hundreds of apps, including pre-loaded gaming and educational apps or those available in the Lenovo online app store. The Horizon comes with a special set of accessories including an e-dice and four joysticks and strikers that bring the digital gaming experience to a whole new level. Perhaps a game of monopoly (and for once you don’t have to worry about an unethical banker dipping into the bank to steal funds!) or even a match of air hockey will be the entertainment for the night. If you’re not in the mood for a game, you can certainly spend some time watching one of 120 streaming TV channels from FilmOn TV. The choices are endless and the fun never ends!
The IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC will be available beginning early summer 2013. Prices start at approximately $1699.00.
