While a common complaint at this year’s press day at the 2013 International CES has been what the companies are holding back, Samsung went all in with its offerings in Las Vegas.
“From motion and voice control in TVs, to 10-point multi-touch screens on tablets and smartphones, we have created new, more human ways for people and devices to interact,” said BK Yoon, president of Samsung’s Consumer Electronics Division. “This year, our goal is to help people discover a world of possibilities. We aim to delight them, bringing not just what they expect, but what they’d never dreamed was possible.”
This included the announcement of the company’s first 85-inch Ultra High Definition TV (UHDTV), which offers four times the pixel resolution of current generation HDTVs.
Samsung also offered greater connectivity in the home with its new home appliance products including the Samsung T9000 LCD Refrigerator, which allows users the ability to adjust the freezer and fridge space based on need; a new Top Load Washing Machine with ice-blue LED controls and new CES innovation award winning range and oven for easy cooking.
The NE597N0PBSR Induction Range offers a large cooking area with “boil alert” technology which detects vibration and automatically reduces heat to a preset level to prevent pots and pans from boiling over; and the ME179KFETSR Over-the-Range Speed Oven, which offers a convection oven, toaster, broiler, microwave and range hood all in one.
Korean-based Samsung also continued to look smart with its line of SMART Cameras, which allow users to shoot and share those precious moments instantly. The first devices to run on this new technology include the WB250F/WB200F, the WB800F, WB30F, DV150F and ST150F. These cameras feature streamlined connection, which has also been built into the external design of SMART CAMERA devices with a standalone Direct Link hot key automatically executing on Wi-Fi.
Streamlined shooting will also be an option with the newly announced Samsung ES95, the latest compact camera that promises to make great photography accessible for all. It features a 16.2 megapixel sensor and 5x optical zoom lens, along with 1280 x 720p movie recording functionality.
Samsung also unveiled several new camcorders, including the QF30 full HD camcorder, with 5M BSI CMOS sensor and 20x Optical/40x Digital Zoom, also offers advanced Wi-Fi capabilities along with a new live streaming features, allowing users to share their recordings both on the go and in real time. The new Samsung ST72 was introduced as a compact and stylish camera, designed for capturing bright, vivid photographs and HD video for those on the go. It features a 16.2 Megapixel CCD Sensor, 25mm wide angle F2.5 bright lens and 5x optical zoom, allowing the ST72 user to take high quality images in any conditions, while its 720p HD movie capture capabilities make it a go anyway HD camcorder.
The WB2100 could also be a camera to go the distance. This latest editions to the WB series of long-zoom models, offers a16.3 megapixels, 35 optical zoom and 25mm wide angle lens, the camera that makes it capable to create stunning long distance shots at ease.
Samsung also set sail with its NX3000, the new flagship model in digital camera line, offering the Samsung 45mm F1.8 2D/3D lens, the world’s first one-lens 3D system, capable of capturing both stills and 1080p Full HD video in perfect 3D quality.

Not only does it deliver incredible speed and accuracy through advanced photographic features, but it is truly built around the user, with upgraded SMART Camera functions making shooting and sharing both easy and seamless. We are also very proud to introduce the first one-lens 3D system alongside the NX300, opening up a whole new world of 3D photography and video recording for consumers everywhere.”
