Wincor Nixdorf Inc. has launched its Wincor Wallet for mobile cashless payments in all retail sales channels, enabling customers to use a smart phone and either near field communications (NFC) technology or a QR code to make mobile payments.
The wallet is integrated into Wincor’s TP Application Suite, a software platform for retail companies, and into Wincor’s Service Station Suite (NAMOS) for gas station companies.
“We have offered the payments platforms for many years,” Juergen Manske, Wincor senior solution manager retail told Mobile Marketing & Technology. “We see the mobile wallet as enabling many different types of mobile payment solutions.”
The wallet, downloadable for iOS and Android devices, enables merchants to combine different mobile payment and loyalty solutions such as the use of mobile debit and credit cards, mobile coupons or redeeming mobile vouchers at the checkout.
“Retailers and service station companies thus have a platform that they can adapt individually to offer their customers optimum payment convenience and set themselves apart from the competition,” Manske added.
Oliver Jordan, Wincor regional practice head, cashless payment solutions, added that QR codes enable consumers and merchants to take advantage of the solution immediately, though NFC-enabled hand held devices and point-of-sale terminals are becoming more common place, especially with the launch of Isis three months ago.
“NFC is a little farther away; but it’s months, not years,” Jordan said. “We have a complete solution that you can use today.”
