The popular computer maker Asus, has finally got its act together and launched the smart looking UX21A ultrabook in the US, there was a time when it did not seem like this smart looking machine would actually make it onto the shelves of the US retailers and yet here it is a welcome addition to the ultrabook range of computers. So, what does the UX21A have to offer the US consumer? Well to start with there is the 11.6 inch screen with a 16:9 display offering HD 1366 x 768 or with IPS FHD 1920 x 1080 of pixel resolutions.
It is running on Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium or Professional operating system and is powered by the Intel Core i5 3317U or i7 3517U Processor. There is support from the Intel HM76 Express Chipset and the video is coming from the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 video card. The internal memory is at 4 GB of DDR3 1600 MHz SDRAM, while there is a choice of either a 128 GB or a 256 GB RPM SATA III solid state drive (SSD) for storage purposes. Communications will be handled by the integrated 802.11 a/b/g/n and a BT 4.0 support on the WLAN+ BT 4.0 combo card.
Other features will include the built in HD web camera, two super fast connecting USB 3.0 ports, micro HDMI & Mini VGA display Ports and with built-in speakers and microphone. As for the size, it measures up at 299 mm (W) x 196.8 mm (D) x 3 mm to 17 mm (H) and weighs in at just 1.1 kg with the 6 Cell 4800 mAh 35 Whrs Polymer Battery pack installed. Asus has priced the UX21A ultrabook to start from $800, which is not too bad for a machine with these features and specs, although with so many different options and choices available this starting price is only going to go up, if the buyer is not too careful.
