Major Weather Impacts Discussion for February 28, 2013:
Day 1-3: The low pressure will push off shore over the Northeast today bringing a few snow showers to Maine and parts of the Northeast. High pressure over the Rockies will impact a vast amount of the country from the Rockies eastward. This high pressure will also be responsible for some very cold air that is expected to impact many places. A weak frontal boundary will impact the Pacific Northwest with a few showers and higher elevation snow showers. The period will end with a few wrap around snow showers over the Northeast, while the remainder of the country enjoys high pressure and colder weather. A weak area of low pressure will push into the Northwest during this time.
Day 4-7: The period will start with snow showers still impacting Maine. High pressure will extend from the Great Lakes southward to the Gulf Coast and Southeast bringing some very cold air to the south. Another storm system will begin to take shape over the Northern Plains with snow showers moving into the area. A second low will develop over the Southwest. By day five the storm system will move into the Great Lakes with the associated frontal boundary moving towards the Gulf Coast. High pressure will be over the Rockies again. By the end of the period a low pressure area will push across the Gulf Coast and towards the Southeast US, while a very strong high pressure center builds in over the Plains and another storm system enters the Pacific Northwest.
Day 8-12: The period will start with a large storm system moving along the East Coast, however it may take an open sea route having no impact on the East Coast as the very strong high pressure center builds in very fast over the Great Lakes which will bring cold weather to a good portion of the East again. Another storm system enters the Northern Plains bringing some moderate snow to the Rockies. Looking at day ten the storm system slides southward into the Southern Plains and sets the stage for some moderate snow over Western Texas and possibly some severe weather along the Gulf Coast. High pressure will impact the weather along both coasts. The end of this period will have a major storm system moving through the Great Lakes with heavy snow towards the Lakes and even some severe weather along the Gulf Coast.
Day 13-15: The period will start with a major winter storm moving through the Eastern Lakes bringing heavy snow to the area, while the East Coast stays warm and gets rain. Another ridge builds in over the Northern Plains. while another storm system moves in over the extreme Northwest US. The middle of the period will have heavy wrap around snows over the Northeast again, while a strong high pressure center builds in over the Northern Plains. Another storm system takes shape over the West. The period will finish very active with multiple storms on the map.

Ask The Weatherman for February 28, 2013:
Question: Is global warming caused by man?
Answer: This is a pretty potent question to be asked. A quick answer is that we will never be able to point directly to human causes because there is too much evidence that points to it being from natural causes. So, in short, the answer would be “no” in my own opinion as a Meteorologist. But remember, this is just my belief.
