Facebook’s Next Acquisitions Will Focus on Mobile, Technology

Facebook’s M&A strategy is getting more ambitious. The company’s earliest acquisitions were all about talent, but going forward, we can expect to see Facebook buying companies for their products and technologies, Dan Rose, Facebook’s vice president of partnerships, said on stage at AllThingsD’s media conference on Tuesday.
“From an M&A perspective, long term history of us is around talent,” said Rose, noting that many of Facebook’s executive leadership came through those talent acquisitions. “Instagram was our first product acquisition. I think you’ll see us do more product and technology acquisitions as we solidify perspective as a mobile company.”
