How to get the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 upgrade on your Nexus… now

(Before It's News)

The 4.2.2 update is not yet officially out but a number of users around the globe already have it on their Android Google devices. Luckily, a reader posted on Yugatech steps on how to force the update to be downloaded on the Google Nexus 7. So I followed these instructions on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus  (build JOP40D) running 4.2.1 and it worked as described!

Android 4.2

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > All
  2. Scroll to find Google Services Framework and tap it
  3. Now tap ‘Force stop’
  4. Go back and tap Google Services Framework again
  5. This time tap ‘Clear data’
  6. Restart the device

As soon as Android boots and gets an internet connection, update 4.2.2 should automatically download (if not you can try to trigger it via Settings > About phone > System updates)

Once the download finishes, you’ll be prompted to install and the device will restart. Changes aren’t that exciting though:

  • App download notification now shows the remaining percentage
  • Toggles on the Quick Settings
  • New sound notifications for Wireless Charging and Battery Low

There you have it. Very easy right? Thanks to @IANVARIVS for sharing this one.
