(Before It's News)

Local Business Listings & regional information providers Infomedia Yellow Pages, Askme & Getit have announced a landmark decision to combine forces & launch a joint operation. This unified approach is being touted to be a ‘Premier Supermarket’ for all business needs of SMEs ranging from Local Search, Free Classifieds, Deals and E-Commerce.

Christened as ‘Getit Infomedia’, the entity will be wholly owned by shareholders of Getit. In other words, it appears Getit will secure the entire acore assets of Infomedia Yellow Pages & Askme. In fact, we had covered this exact aspect, barely a week ago.

How will this benefit the common user?

While Getit Infomedia will now be bigger than all three individually, the local businesses won’t have to pay for three different services. All the while, information seekers will have to get in touch with just one agency for all sorts of information which not only will be comprehensive, but will be much more reliable. Regional Business Information providing companies, be it physical media or digital, collating databases & workforce is always beneficial from a long term perspective. However, it will be interesting to see how well this similar information from multiple sources, is properly analyzed. After all, no one wants duplicate entries!

Perhaps, this synergistic approach can be better emphasized from the statement from Jaspreet Bindra, CEO of Getit Infoservices Ltd., and the leader of the combined entity, “With the growing significance of the SME market coupled with digital and social media growth, India, offers us an unprecedented opportunity in the SME digital and e-commerce space. This combined entity with a truly PAN India presence and unique model of feet on street, and digital outreach, will accelerate our vision for SME digital enablement.”

Do you think the joining of forces will build a monopoly with higher participation fees or the fees might actually be a lot cheaper for local businesses to entice higher participation?
