(Before It's News)

One of the country’s leading data center operator, IP-Converge, just added a new cloud service that would fit the backup requirements of small and medium businesses.

The IPC BackupCloud is the first and only cloud-based enterprise data backup solution in the Philippines that is powered by Symantec NetBackup. This backup-as-a-service (BaaS) product enables businesses to ensure data availability through periodic data transfers to the IPC BackupCloud system hosted in IP-Converge’s state-of-the-art data center facility over a dedicated Internet connection.

This service allows companies to focus on their business and to reduce capex by not having to invest on hardware, software licenses and personnel just for enterprise backup. With IPC BackupCloud, data backup is done on a regular basis for a monthly fee based only on the amount of data backed up. In addition, the system features deduplication technology which ensures that only changes made to the data are added to the existing backup. The opex arrangement is economical for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with critical data availability and disaster recovery requirements.

IP-Converge President Reynaldo R. Huergas says, “We are proud to be the first provider in the country to introduce this unique product to small and medium enterprises locally. As a pioneer in the cloud computing space in the Philippines, we at IP-Converge are committed to developing new ways for Filipino businesses to enjoy the many benefits of the cloud, through alliances with global leaders such as Symantec.”

“The ability to quickly recover from a disaster is critical for businesses today. A sound disaster preparedness and business continuity plan combined with technologies such as cloud computing, enable businesses to better prepare for and quickly recover from potential disasters,” says Luichi Robles, Symantec’s Senior Country Manager in the Philippines. “According to Symantec’s 2012 SMB Disaster Preparedness Survey, 34 percent of SMBs globally are adopting public cloud and server virtualization to improve disaster preparedness. We are pleased to partner with IP-Converge to better serve the needs of businesses in the Philippines through the IPC BackupCloud offering.”

IPC BackupCloud further strengthens IP-Converge’s portfolio of world-class cloud services designed for the Philippine enterprise. The company reiterates its “cloudvocacy” to propagate a cloud computing mindset within the Filipino business community and reap the many benefits of using the cloud for business operations.

Symantec NetBackup, the foundation of IPC BackupCloud, speeds backups up to 100 times and delivers instant full recovery capability through a centralized management console. Unlike other backup technology that relies on the IT team to integrate multiple disparate backup solutions, Symantec NetBackup is available as a single integrated appliance for the data center, remote office and virtual environments, providing users with simplified deployment and operations.
