It has been rumored that new Xbox will use Kinect 2.0, and today we have some leaked information about Microsoft’s new motion sensor.
As you already know, Kinect 2.0 will be shipped with every Xbox 720 console, and according to the latest rumors, Kinect 2.0 should use a new sensor for infrared detection that should improve depth resolution to 512×424. In addition, field of view should be increased to 70 degrees horizontal and 60 degrees vertical. Additional improvements include a 1920×1080 resolution camera with 6-bit YUV support. Video stream will work at 30fps, and thanks to the Infrared detection sensor, new Kinect should work better in low-light conditions. We also have to mention that instead of USB 2.0, Kinect will use USB 3.0, and since this device is wired, it should have reduced latency time from 90ms to 60ms. Thanks to the wider viewing angle, Kinect 2.0 will be able to detect up to six players, and it should be able to work around the furniture.
Kinect 2.0 sounds promising, but we’ll just have to wait and see how Kinect 2.0 works in action.
