Do you have a device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor? Well, if you have a U.S. version of either the Galaxy S3, One X, or any version of the Nexus 4 then you do, high five! Qualcomm just released an official app called BatteryGuru (Beta) specifically for Snapdragon-equipped devices to help with better battery management. There’s a ton of devices aside from the aforementioned ones, so if you’re unsure what yours has, here’s Qualcomm’s full list. Qualcomm says this app supports a majority of these devices that are in North America and the E.U., but if your device isn’t supported, it may be in the future. This app is still in beta, so I’d expect there to be frequent updates.

After you install BatteryGuru, it learns your behaviors as use your device normally for 2-4 days. When the break-in period is over, the app does some calculated voodoo, such as turning off certain background processes, changing app refresh rates, and managing WiFi based on location—all in an attempt to get the greatest battery life. Some of these controls can be turned on and off manually without having to turn off the app completely.

I just started running the app within the last few hours, so I can’t attest to its effectiveness yet. I can say that it has 4 stars in the Play Store so far and it’s only been out a few days. I’m OCD with my battery stats and use Battery Monitor Widget Pro and SystemPanel religiously all the time, so I always know what my battery is doing. It’ll be interesting to see how much a difference this app makes.

Has anyone used BatteryGuru yet? If so, how has it improved your battery life? Let us know.
