Many scientists believe Mars had no plate tectonics. So, they think fossils could not be found in basalt. The fact is: Mars had plate tectonics and fossils exist in “basalt”.
Most geologists did not find plate tectonics on Mars. That’s because Mars is covered with a thick layer of fossil-containing material resulting from a catastrophic event billions of years ago. That event wiped out all life on Mars.
