(Before It's News)

nexus 7 vs lg g pad 8.3 google play editionYou may have heard earlier today that the mysterious LG V510 tablet that was widely suspected to be a Nexus 8-type device has actually been launched on the Google Play Store (in the U.S.) as the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition. This is definitely a surprise and with the addition of the Sony Z Ultra Google Play Edition to the mix as well, the Play Store for devices is suddenly looking very comprehensive with a device at pretty much every display size offering.

A lot of discussion occurred before we learned that the LG V510 was actually the G Pad 8.3 GPE, primarily that if it was to be an 8-inch tablet, how little sense it would be to have it in the lineup next to the Nexus 7. Well, that eventuality has happened and we now have the 7-inch Nexus 7 (now also available in white!) with the similarly sized G Pad 8.3 GPE. Naturally, the real question is then: which of the tablets do you prefer?

nexus 7 vs lg g pad 8.3 google play editionOn paper, the devices aren’t dissimilar, with the 16GB Nexus 7 rocking a Snapdragon S4 with 2GB RAM and the G Pad 8.3 GPE running with a Snapdragon 600, 16GB and 2GB RAM as well. Both will be running Android 4.4 KitKat and although battery sizes vary at 3950 and 4600 mAh respectively, the extra screen real-estate on the G Pad will likely balance battery life out. The real difference comes in the pricing: at $229 for the 16GB version, the Nexus 7 is an undeniable bargain and adding $140 will even net you the 32GB LTE version. The G Pad 8.3 GPE is priced at $350 and as far as I can see, you’re only really paying extra for the increased screen size.

But that’s just my opinion; I’d love to hear what you think and find out which tablet you’d prefer. Vote in the poll below and we’ll see what’s what!
