Vodafone India’s subscribers will soon have an added advantage to log on to Vodafone Live as the company has entered into an interesting tie–up with STAR India for sourcing content related to Indian Premier League, a hugely popular Cricketing Tournament.
Though Vodafone has timed the tie–up to the IPL Season that will soon start, the Vodafone Sports Portal won’t be restricted to Cricket alone and will feature Score Updates, Video Clips and associated content for multiple Sports, clarified a statement from the telecom company,
“Vodafone Sports powered by starsports.com will offer customers premium live and curated content built around some of the most popular sports in India such as cricket, football, tennis, hockey, golf and motorsport. Vodafone Sports is being launched with cricket, football and hockey, and will rapidly cover other major sports like F1 and tennis. Customers can avail Vodafone Sports by visiting live.vodafone.in/sports or sending a simple text message to 111.
Customers using Vodafone Sports will also have access to an exhaustive array of legal, unadulterated content at their fingertips, including all the latest news, trivia, scores and results, instant access to live matches, interactive video scorecards, exclusive insight and analysis, columns, photos and wallpapers across sports. The interactive video scorecard, for example, will allow users to watch the fall of a wicket or replay individual innings highlights for a particular player right from the scorecard.”
Understanding the need to consume content associated with sports, but the unwillingness to cough–up huge tariff costs to stream content, Vodafone has come–up with cleverly priced ‘Packs’. The ‘Snack Plan’ allows users to watch a match at Rs 10-20; watch a video clip at Rs 3-5 and also decorate a home screen with cricket wallpapers at Rs 3 per Wallpaper. There’s an ‘All You Can Eat’ plan too, which comes at prices of Rs 49, 99 and 150 for an individual series and also allows users to watch archived video clips at Rs 30-50. Additionally, the ‘Subscription Plan’ offers users access to special videos at tariffs ranging from Rs 5 a day to Rs 150 a month.
Vodafone Live has been an active WAP Portal for quite some time. It is a very interesting step that Vodafone has taken to boost its adoption. What do you think?
