We’re hearing from more and more VMware shops looking to add self-service capabilities.
The usual scenario is to create clouds by pooling resources from their VMware infrastructure, and then create virtual data centers giving access to specific users. Those who are assigned resources in the virtual data center only see what is assigned to them, including their quota allocations of things like RAM and CPU.
ConVirt management works with the vSphere and vCenter that customers are already using. There is no need to pay the VMware tax for vCloud Director or vCloud Suite.
Plus, ConVirt will automatically discover server pools and draws a lot of the information about networks and storage directly from vCenter. Also, a VLAN can be created in ConVirt, which then writes back to vCenter.
If you want to include resources from Hyper-V, KVM, Xen or maybe Amazon EC2, Eucalyptus, Openstack that can be done using ConVirt management, too.
We’ve got a 30-minute on-demand webinar where we talk about our quota-managed, self-service capabilities that overlay your existing VMware farm. Check it out, it’s tax-free.
