Addicted To Retail (ATR) presents: Moncler Store Opening in Tokyo, Japan.
Italian fashion brand Moncler has raised its profile in Tokyo with a new flagship store.
Following boutique openings in the city’s main shopping areas of Shibuya, Shinjuku, Aoyama and a string of shop-in-shop locations, Moncler plants a flag in the upscale Ginza district, and it does so in a striking manner. A major retail statement – yes, also quite literally – the store measures 560 sqm. [6,028 sq.ft.] Spread over two floors, and features an interior design by Paris-based practice and longtime collaborator Gilles & Boissier.
Infused with slabs of black and white marble with polished chrome accents, it breaks away from the aesthetic of Moncler’s previous stores. Alongside the store opening, a collab collection with Los Angeles-based artist duo friendswithyou will officially be launched. A series of puffer jackets, each adorned with very appropriate kawaii-style pop icons and in bright colours, will be sold as a world exclusive at the store during the weekend – no worries, they’ll drop in moncler stores elsewhere in the course of the coming fall and winter seasons – and not surprisingly, friendswithyou will attend the opening as they’ve taken over the store with a colour-infused installation of inflatable sculptures and other objects, and to take customization requests from shoppers.
