Diwali is just couple of days away and top smartphone makers have started ramping up stocks to meet huge demand of the festive season.
In the July-September quarter the imports of smartphone as well as local production rose by 12 percent to 28.3 million, reveals report of Counterpoint Technology Market Research.
An added report from Cybex Exim reveals shipments for the brands have climbed over 6 percent in October alone. However, the Samsung brand was not included in the study.
Cybex added Micromax has shipped higher than estimates in September and October. it has shipped 1.9 million units of smartphones, which is up from 1.7 million in August.
It is also reported the Chinese startup OnePlus has diverted its global stocks to India.
Head of India operations for OnePlus, Vikas Agarwal, said it is a mad rush in India and someone from another country cannot fathom how such a huge quantities of smartphones can be sold on a single day – Diwali.
The imports of OnePlus smartphones increased ten times compared to the month of August.
The imports of Chinese company Xiaomi too increased and in September it was more than 21 percent.
Experts said the sale of smartphones in the quarter of Diwali is 33 percent of the total sales in a year.
