By offering a payments platform that other business service providers can integrate into their own application offerings, WePay offers advantages over many other payments providers, Rich Aberman, co-founder and chief product officer, tells Mobile Marketing & Technology.
WePay processes billions annually for platforms including GoFundMe, Meetup, Care.com, FreshBooks and Constant Contact. With those and services offered through Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs), WePay offers a way for the end merchant to have payments automatically as part of other services, rather than needing to worry about getting business services like accounting (FreshBooks), funding (GoFundMe) or processing and similar business services (ISOs), Aberman says. WePay does not offer the platform directly to merchants, only through partners providing other services.
“We are the only payments platform focused on the software platform and partner marketplaces,” Aberman says. “We give our partners full control.”
Another feature WePay offers that many other payment platforms don’t is the ability to process ACH bank transfers, enabling U.S. users to accept simple yet highly secure ACH bank transfers in addition to credit card payments. This is particularly beneficial for high dollar transactions, from the purchase of home remodels to fine art, when buyers seek to spend above their credit card limits and sellers seek to reduce transaction fees, according to Aberman.
“We put our partners in the driver’s seat, we accept the risk and regulatory exposure,” Aberman says.
