Despite the electoral reverses in 2015 and allegations of corruption charges by opposition Congress party, the personal popularity of Modi remained high. He continued with his overseas tours and wrapped the year with a historic visit to Pakistan, earning widespread praise.

2015 Was The Year Of Narendra Modi With 26-Country Foreign Tours

In 2015 the PM visited a total of twenty-six countries including the unscheduled stopover in Pakistan on December 25, on the birthday of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Let’s have a quick look to the foreign trips of Modi:

March – Seychelles, Mauritius and Sri Lanka
April – France, Germany and Canada
May – China, Mongolia and South Korea
June – Bangladesh
July – Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan
August – UAE
September – United States
November – United Kingdom, Turkey, Malaysia, Singapore and France
December – Russia, Afghanistan and Pakistan

Economics

The Modi government remained in 2015 intact with the image of a business-minded for the outside world. The foreign policy management is way ahead of what was during the era of Congress. The new government is carefully nurturing a major power relation, globally as well as regional balance.

Diplomacy

Russia’s closeness to China may be a threat to India, but Modi has managed successfully in conveying concerns to all the three major powers which was absent in the previous government. Engagement of the new government with Europe is now more forward looking. India has also made outreach to like-minded states with Australia, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines. Afghanistan too now has join hands with India to expose Pakistani military’s machinations.

Success

However, the success of Modi government will be assessed at the end of his five-year-term. Now, after the end of eighteen months it is true his government is ready to discard old shibboleths.
