A 7.2-magnitude earthquake has hit Central Asian nation of Tajikistan Monday afternoon and the tremors have been felt as far as cities in Pakistan and India.
The US Geological Survey reports the quake struck at about 12:50 p.m. local time on the mountainous region of sparsely populated area, 130 miles east of the capital Dushanbe and 75 miles from the nearest village.
No casualties or damage have been reported yet, said spokesman for Tajikistan’s Emergencies Committee.
RIA news agency reports the Russian military bases in Tajikistan have not been affected from the quake.
An Associated Press reported confirms two tremors were felt within an hour in the capital of neighboring Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, south of Tajikistan.
Earlier this year on October 26 devastating earthquakes shook Pakistan causing massive loss of lives and damages to property.
