THE NORTHCAP UNIVERSITY (NCU), Gurgaon held its fourth Annual Convocation Ceremony for various undergraduate and postgraduate courses today at the University premises. Shri Balmiki Prasad Singh, IAS (Retd), Ex-Governor Sikkim and Former Union Home Secretary graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Professor Prem Vrat, Pro-Chancellor, NCU and Brig (Retd) SK Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor, NCU conferred the degrees followed by Shri Balmiki Prasad Singh who presented the awards to the meritorious students. Family members and parents were emotional to see their children getting the degrees.

Shri Balmiki Prasad Singh, IAS (Retd), Ex-Governor Sikkim and Former Union Home Secretary said in his convocation address, “I am delighted to be here today and would like to congratulate all the students for a successful future ahead. The process of learning does not end with the University and everybody is a student forever in the classroom of life. I would like to share 3 important ideas with you – Information and Communication Technology, lessons from Mahatama Gandhi and Bahudha approach. ICT is extended to cultural values. Mahatma Gandhi taught us lessons of truth, non-violence, unity of thought, speech and action. Bahudha approach believes in celebration of diversity. Today, democracy is at the heart of governance in India and youth must play an important role in building a strong and compassionate India. ”

The students graduated with flying colours, many of them qualified with First division. A total of 897 students were awarded degrees in their respective disciplines, including 629 from BTech, 140 from MTech, 31 from BBA, 47 from MBA, 12 from LLM, 12 from B.Com (H), 17 from BA LLB, 7 from M.Sc (Mathematics). The first 2 PhD scholars from the University were also awarded degrees during the Convocation. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to 37 candidates, who topped the list in their respective streams.

After receiving her degree an elated student Geetika Guleria, Gold medal in Dept of CSE, The NorthCap University said, “It is time now that we girls make our parents proud. I am thankful to the University for providing me with quality education that would help me chart a definitive career.”

On the occasion of Convocation, Shri Balmiki Prasad Singh, also released a book, titled ‘Global Warming and Climate Change’ authored by Prof. Saligram Bhatt, Professor Emeritus, NCU.

Earlier, amidst the chanting of mantras the convocation started with the academic procession. Later, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Brig SK Sharma (Retd) presented the Annual Report of the University and the convocation ended with oath taking ceremony by the students.
