Apple is lately learned developing a software enhancement to make impossible for them to help Justice Department in unlocking iPhones. However, the updation could only be applicable to the new models of iPhones.
Citing an insider, The Washington Post writes the new move of the company would force the investigating agencies to come up with a new technical solution even after gaining legal authority to force them to unlock the phones of suspects.
A high-profile battle is currently ongoing between Apple and the Justice Department related to the unlocking of the iPhone of one of the attackers in the San Bernardino, Calif. shooting rampage. The government is trying to force the iDevice giant in assisting FBI in terms of technology to unlock the device.
The enhancement software feature is said to be called as Secure Enclave. It will protect sensitive data of the device.
Insider said the engineers at Apple realized a vulnerability of the iPhones and had in fact started thinking about addressing it much ahead of the San Bernardino attacks. However, now the fix has become a priority.
Meanwhile, security experts have appreciated the move of Apple saying the device will become more secure now amid increased rate of threats.
