(Before It's News)

A river so hot that it boils it’s victims alive has been found in the Amazon.
The four mile long river is located deep in the heart of the Amazon
in Mayantuyacu.

It was found by Andres Ruzo after his grandfather spoke of a legendary tale.

The legend spoke of Spanish conquerors seeking gold in the Amazon and meeting deadly obstacles along the way. But what interested Ruzo the most was the mention of the boiling river waters said by locals to be  heated by a serpent god.

Twelve years later, he found himself trekking deep into the Amazon with a shaman.

Ruzo, a PhD student in geophysics asked colleagues from, universities, the government, and gas and mining
companies if such a river could exist. The response was a unanimous “No”.

While boiling rivers do exist, they are usually associated with volcanoes. A very powerful heat source
is needed to produce such a large geothermal manifestation.

A shaman guards the river.

The river is hot enough to brew tea, and even boils over.

Ruzo is now trying to save the river as the surrounding area has been destroyed by logging.
