When they first unveiled their Mark One carbon fiber 3D printer in San Diego at SolidWorks World in 2014, the MarkForged team – led by former aerospace engineer Greg Mark – started off with a legendary bang. Not only were they the first company to unveil a 3D printer capable of producing carbon fiber race car parts on your desktop, but they were also even invited up on the SolidWorks World Mainstage just a day after launching. Needless to say, the 3D printer capable of printing in carbon fiber, fiberglass, Kevlar, and nylon took the 3D printing industry by storm.

On Monday, the MarkForged team once again found themselves at SolidWorks World in Dallas, Texas but this time, they were there with an all-new product to show and tell: The Mark Two.

With a reported 40% faster fiber printing process, the Mark Two is also able to reinforce features 15 times smaller than before with some enhanced minor improvements in software, hardware, and materials. The updated design features over the Mark One are designed to speed up the process of producing industrial-strength parts with greater ease and rapidity.

Like the Mark One, the Mark Two will also let users have full control over prints embedded with internal components thanks to a print bed that clicks into place with 10-micron accuracy. This feature allows users to pause a print, remove the bed, add components, click the bed back in and then continue the print in the same position.
