The problem with cladistics is that it isn’t possible to divide things into ancestors and descendants at the same time as dividing them into different kinds of things, because “ancestor” and “descendant” are different kinds of things. If it had been possible, then “ancestor” and “descendant” would actually have been the same kind of things.
(Ie, cladistics conflates conceptualization itself.)
