If you are addicted to WhatsApp, here’s a sad news, but only for the users of Nokia and Microsoft mobile operating systems. From 2017 the messaging platform will stop supporting the platforms.
WhatsApp currently has one billion active users. It is seven years old and Facebook acquired it in 2014 for around $21.8 billion.
The list is not too big for the devices that WhatsApp will drop support for. It includes Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1, Android 2.2 and Windows Phone 7.1.
In a blog post the platform wrote, “While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.”
WhatsApp writes further the decision was tough for them to stop support for several operating systems.
Users who are using the listed mobile devices need to know, with the bold step of WhatsApp, its time to upgrade to a modern smartphone.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is experiencing almost non-stop growth after getting acquired by Facebook.
