If you’re an audiophile who cringes at the site of sound coming from a mobile device, your day might just get a few decibels better. You want quality and stunning audio even if that means paying top dollar. Hult, a manufacturer based in Los Angeles, has a new high performance wireless speaker called the Pavilion and their hope is that it will stand up to other Hi-Fi speakers on the market. It’s a wireless speaker. (what else is new), but the thing that makes this speaker so different is how it’s made.

With the look of a modern art piece, the cylindrical speaker stands 10.22 inches tall with 20W full-range audio, stereo pairing and portable mode. It may sounds like your standard WiFi speaker so far, but what makes it different is the use of architectural material–a approach which has never been used in the speaker industry before. The Pavilion is made of a combination of coiled copper, a concrete base, and an oak top. The copper coil is proudly on display behind a clear polycarbonate window, which is used to warm those beautiful bass frequencies. The concrete is claimed to reduce vibrations and prevent the speaker from being tipped over.

To ensure the best acoustics, Pavilion uses a high quality 20W Peerless transducer. The cabinet itself is designed to make the frequency response flat to replicate unbiased sound. It also has Bluetooth connectivity with aptX support, the ability to use two Pavilion speakers for stereo mode and wired connectivity via 3.5mm AUX port.

The oak wood top looks sleek, but also has the expected touch control. There’s also an LED indicator on top to show users the current status of the speaker. There is an AC adapter, but the speaker is built to support 4-5 hours of playback on battery mode.

Hult is also offering a limited edition of Pavilion, which is being touted as a luxury edition of the speaker. Though it looks similar to the standard edition of the speaker and has the same specifications, there are little design changes that make it special. Among the differences is an alternate finish, along with a ruby copper accent around the waist and top control buttons. All the parts are hand carved and so polished, you can see yourself in it. The regular version of the speaker runs between $289 – $339 while the limited edition runs between $339 – $389. It was successfully funded on Kickstarter and can now be pre-ordered via their website.
