Microsoft has lately confirmed it would be stopping the production of Xbox 360 gaming console, which opened up a new world for gamers ten years ago when it was debuted.
Head of Microsoft’s Xbox division, Phil Spencer, announced in a blog post explaining the console reshaped an entire generation of gaming.
Last year in November the software giant celebrated 10th anniversary of Xbox 360.
Spencer’s blog post read, “Xbox 360 means a lot to everyone in Microsoft. And while we’ve had an amazing run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us.”
However, owners of Xbox 360 will continue receiving Xbox Live services and they will be able to access their existing apps and games.
Spencer added games on the console will be playable through Xbox One Backward Compatibility.
Xbox 360 was launched in 2005 and until now more than 80 million units have been sold.
Microsoft launched Xbox One in 2013.
