Scientists thought they knew all about aging.
After all, the whole process seemed pretty cut and dried. Over time, your cells divide. Each time they divide, they get older and weaker. And that’s when you start to see signs that you’re growing older.
You know the ones I’m talking about – the fine lines and wrinkles… the age spots… and the rough, dry skin.
Eventually, those cells stop dividing and die. End of story.
Or is it?
What they didn’t realize then was…
The discovery of these “timekeepers” – more formally known as telomeres – threw the scientific world into an uproar.
Telomeres are disposable “caps” at the ends of your chromosomes that protect your dna during cell division. They are like the plastic tips on your shoelaces that keep them from fraying. When your cells divide, they prevent vital data from being lost.
Pretty remarkable stuff. But researchers kept digging and found out something even more amazing…
Telomeres determine how quickly you age!
They’re like little timekeepers attached to your dna. Each time your cells divide, your telomeres grow shorter. And the shorter they get… the weaker and older your cells get.
But here’s the discovery that really got scientists excited…
By controlling the length of your telomeres…
In 2009, molecular biologist Elizabeth Blackburn received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discovering the “Fountain of Youth” for your dna.
This amazing substance helps prevent the shortening of your telomeres – and can even lengthen and rebuild them. And when your telomeres stay longer, your dna produces younger cells…
…And you end up with moister, firmer skin with fewer wrinkles and age spots!
When I heard about this dna breakthrough, I simply couldn’t keep it to myself.
