Lawyers everywhere are constantly looking for ways they can increase their firm’s productivity. It makes perfect sense too. Lawyers operate in an eat what you kill world, meaning they get paid based on the amount of work they are able to produce. Any attorney or firm that isn’t looking for ways to increase productivity should really consider starting.

A great place to start in increasing your firm’s productivity is looking into how you can utilize Office 365. Microsoft has taken their Office suite of applications and moved them all into the cloud. This means that your casework doesn’t need to be confined to your office. Like many other professions, attorneys are looking for more flexibility and the ability to work anytime, anywhere as a means to increase their productivity.

Here are some of the ways attorneys are turning to Office 365 to increase their productivity:

OneDrive—OneDrive allows attorneys to upload all of their case documents into the cloud. Once these documents are securely uploaded to the cloud, as well as backed up, attorneys can then easily access and share these documents.  For CosmoLex users who also subscribe to Office 365, there is an added benefit of being able to access and edit files stored on OneDrive inside of CosmoLex, even when there isn’t a native version of the Office product installed on the device being used.

Legal Document Collaboration—It is commonplace for multiple attorneys and legal professionals to be working on the same legal matter. Editing documents in Office 365 allows multiple members of a firm to collaborate on the same document without creating multiple disparate versions of the same document. This cuts down on confusion while increasing the speed and ease in which members of your firm can collaborate regardless of where they may be located.

Calendar Syncing—An attorney’s calendar and schedule are extremely important. Deadlines, client meetings, and much more are all managed here. The problem is attorneys use a number of different softwares and systems throughout the day. This can lead to a meeting or task being entered in one calendar system and not into another. That is unless you can sync your Office 365 Calendar with the calendar in your practice management system. CosmoLex has recently built an Office 365 integration that allows you to sync your calendars, ensuring that you never miss an important task or event no matter which system you are working in.

So it is certainly no surprise that utilizing Office 365 can go a long way in increasing productivity for your law firm, but if you want to get even more out of Office 365 your firm should consider taking advantage of integrations with an all-in-one practice management system such as CosmoLex.
