Greg McLawsen is the managing attorney at Sound Immigration, an innovative immigration firm experimenting with lean and agile methodologies. He also focuses on introducing new technology tools to improve the effectiveness of law firms.

You can find Greg on Twitter and LinkedIn.

What apps or tools are essential to your daily workflow?

  • Trello (project management for both cases and business/work life)
  • Slack (all internal team discussions)
  • Clio
  • Zapier (automation and app integration)
  • G Suite
  • Hootsuite
  • Skype (personal, not work edition)

What does your workspace look like?

I did away with a second monitor after switching to current, super-light Asus Ultrabook, which I prefer for travels.

How do you keep track of your calendars/deadlines?

Double calendaring in G Suite and Clio. My Bangalore team reviews mail each night (for us), which is scanned at an Earth Class Mail facility. They calendar events just like an in-house paralegal team would.

What’s your coffee service setup? (Other beverages are fine, of course, but you should really be serving coffee!)

It used to be a Keurig back when we had a stand-alone office. Since we use Regus, we use their Keurig-like machine with Seattle’s Best. Not the best, but not the worst.

What is one thing that you listen to/read/watch that everyone should?

The Tim Ferriss Show podcast, for entrepreneurial lawyer types.

What’s your favorite local place to network or work solo?

For working, the lounge at my gym. For networking, the very nice cocktail bar at the same gym.

What are three things you do without fail every day?

  1. Check in on my master Trello board, which tracks all projects in my professional life.
  2. Exercise.
  3. Cook dinner for the family.

Who else would you like to see answer these questions?

  • Jack Newton from Clio
  • Greg Siskind
  • Aaron Street
