Game of Thrones, The Inn at the Crossroads, and Lemon Duck
In anticipation of the season premiere of Game of Thrones on HBO this weekend, Anthony and I visited the “Game of Thrones The Exhibition” in the city yesterday. But, we've been getting in the GoTmood for a few weeks now. Anthony just finished reading A Dance with Dragons Wednesday evening. (I read it in August, but have so got to reread it as I read it in a fury and several of the more uncomfortable bits– the bits that remind you never ever to get too attached to Martin's characters– I've sort of blocked out, kinda like the uncomfortable bits in childhood). I just got my Happy Spring gift to myself in the mail, also on Wednesday, and listened to it on the ride into the exhibit yesterday: the latest album from Seven Kingdoms, “The Fire is Mine.”
And, as we've been doing since we got the book, whenever we have a special occasion– Solstice, birthday, anniversary, and so on– we've been selecting a recipe from A Feast of Ice and Firethe GoT official cookbook by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel and Sariann Lehrer. We've by no means gone through even a quarter of the recipes, but it's become one of my favorite recipe books. Though there are a few very minor issues I have with some of the instructions here and there. But, I'd say that's personal preference and not a problem with the book per se. I've been cooking for years and I often tinker with recipes once I've tried them.
