There’s going to be lots of changes around the farm this spring.  I really hope I can hold it all together.  My time will be seriously stretched and I will be relying heavily on my grown kids to help me where I already know I will fall short.

I’ve recently worked out an opportunity to make serious changes for myself.  It’s not going to be easy in any way but it is so very necessary.  Yes, it involves the big D word.  Don’t feel sorry about it, it’s something that has needed to be done for years.  Being stuck in something you can’t escape always sucks and when you finally get to be rid of it, life will be much better.  I can say for myself, it’s already better and it’s not even done yet.  Either way, I’m too old to be living with a dysfunctional union.  It’s just time to eliminate the dysfunction.

So, while I’ve been doing all this other stuff, Blackie left her babies to die.  Of course, I can’t stand by and let that happen so now there’s 3 little poop machines in the house.  I’m already working on some sort of pen to put them in to at least contain the mess until it warms up enough to house them where they belong (outside!)  Thankfully, these are not January repeats of Lucky and Sissy goat.  Spring and warm weather are very close and I’m praying I will get them outside before they get big enough to start wiping out my seedlings!  Can you imagine what the house would look like after I am gone working 10 hours and 3 little poop machines were running around?  Oh no, even though this place is falling apart, it’s not a barn and we don’t live with messes.

Fluffy is already paper trained but the other 2 are several days younger and not anywhere near as strong yet.  As they grow, I am hoping Fluffy will show them the right way.  Not much you can do about the poop part, they don’t seem to have much control over that.

I’ve got 2 windows full of growing seedlings.  The funky weather and overcast days have slowed them down some and the wild temperature changes have been hard on the tomatoes but everything is still alive.  My lack of patience for proper seed starting time hasn’t hurt them any.  Spring planting is going to look pretty good!
