When you need to boil questionable water or cook some food, you need a portable stove, preferably one that is compact and light-weight so you can have one where ever you go. Why pay $70 bucks for one when you can make one at home for FREE?

What’s A wood Gas Stove?

Homemade gas stoves generate fuel by heating biomass or wood. Since wood does not technically “burn,” the gas and vapor that emerge from the wood are actually burned by the air with high heat. This gasification process is called pyrolysis, which converts the wood to char. The interaction of gas, vapor and char creates heat and serves as a clean combustion source for the wood gas stove.

Materials Needed:

1 Large Can (should be a short but fat aluminum can ranging from 22-28ozcan)

1 Small Can (a typical Cambells soup can would do, they are slightly tall and skinny around 15oz can)

1 Heavy Duty Scissors (or anything that could cut aluminum, this tutorial uses Tin Snips or Penny Cutters)

1 Sharpie

1 Electric Drill (use a 3/16 and a 3/8 bit)
