Sometimes I get too hung up and worked up over how things aren't going the way I want them to go. So, I make myself a list of all the things I have going right to remind myself that all my hard work, blood, sweat and tears are not wasted effort.
As I look back on it all, it amazes me how far I've come and what all I've lived thru. I started out just growing a huge garden and talking to myself as I weeded into this huge blog adventure where I share all the good and bad with all of you.
The journey from being unhealthy and consuming commercial food (garbage) to growing healthy and clean food for just my family and then turning into a farming business plus feeding my family.
The whole amish rodeo milk cow adventure turned into a wonderful raw milk and cheese journey.
Then came the goats. ROFL They are an adventure all on their own! A continuing adventure, full of good. Well, mostly good anyway. The goat milking adventures and the goat cheese adventure will continue forever. At least I hope it will anyway.
The ups and downs of the free range chickens and the crazy disappointments with the rabbits. The evil fox, the sneaky bobcat and the darn dumped dogs…
The coffee plants, the dwarf fruit trees, the tobacco growing and curing adventure, the stupid cattle
dogs. All the crazy “fixed it on the fly” hillbilly stuff just to get the hay baled, LOL.
The struggles with a bad marriage, living without the basic essentials everyone around me takes for granted, it's all part of who I have become and who I will be in the future. There's several things on the list that I wouldn't choose to do again but for the most part, living on this farm and doing what I do here, it's all personally rewarding and I wouldn't change it for anything.
Oh, LOL, here's Tinkerbell, a Holstein heifer born without a front leg from the knee down. She's a fighter and actually doing well for being mostly 3 legged. Not a candidate for breeding but she will be loved as much as any other critter here right up to the freezer.
Now it's time to clean up after GiGi the house goat before bed….
G'night ya'll!
