Dennis and Danielle McClung from Phoenix, Arizona, designed their own self-sufficient pool farm.
They ended up with an elaborate backyard ecosystem made out of a swimming pool. The Garden Pool featured a closed-loop ecosystem where tilapia, algae, and duckweed flourished alongside broccoli and sweet potatoes.
The Garden Pool incorporates solar power, water conservation, poultry farming, aquaculture, hydroponic gardening, organic horticulture, aquaponics, biofiltration, thermal mass, and permaculture. The Garden Pool could serve as a model for anyone looking to start their own garden. Their website is a source for ideas and information to start you on your journey.
