It seems all I see today, especially here on BIN, is “Get ready, the world is going to end!”, “This will blow your mind – the end is here!”, “WW3 is imminent – get ready!”
I’m beginning to see an eerie similarity between the MSM and the Alternative Media, which is this – “BE AFRAID! Be VERY Afraid!”
Those who may or may not be trying to ‘end the world’, ‘cull the population’, or create a ‘new world order’ would love this!
Those who live in fear – fear of tomorrow, fear of the end of times, fear of thinking for themselves – are not really LIVING at all!
They’re merely surviving, day to day, running around in circles like a squirrel in a cage. In my opinion, and that’s all it is – my opinion – This is no way to live. If you don’t live for TODAY, which is, really, all we have, then you are not living at all.
You are just surviving, and that’s no way to live, if you wish to be happy. Now, I am not trying to convince anyone that there is no evil in the world – Just look at the news (if you can stand to do so) – you’ll find plenty of people hurting other people, taking advantage of one another, and perpetrating any number of awful atrocities.
Just look at the past – all the wars in which innocent people are killed, along with the soldiers – who are mostly just doing what they think is right, following orders and blowing the hell out of one another and whoever is unlucky enough to be in the way – the starvation of people all over the world, I could go on for hours – there is no denying that there are some really evil people out there, and there probably always will be, at least in our lifetimes. This is no excuse, nor is it a valid reason (again, in my opinion) to live your life in a state of constant fear, in which you forget to really LIVE
For along with the evil, there is also GOOD! There is LOVE, there are some wonderful people out there, many of whom are trying selflessly to make the world a better place, whether by helping their communities become more productive and beautiful, or doing everything they can to help the homeless, or the starving and displaced people who need our love the most.
There are, though you never hear about it on the news – whether mainstream or alternative – who are giving huge sums of money and other forms of aid to those who need it the most. Think for a minute what our world would be like if instead of spending all of their time, money, and effort in preparing for the end of the world, and instead put that effort into helping those who really need it.
I will admit that I have a bit of ‘prepper’ mentality – I have a small cache of food and supplies put away in case of an emergency or some kind of natural disaster – but lately I find myself feeling rather cut off from society; what will all of that do for my neighbors?
What will I do when they come knocking on my door, asking for help? The more I think about it, the simple answer is, I will share it. I will help anyone who asks, and even those who don’t, as best I can. Now hopefully everyone who can afford to do so is preparing somewhat, and is thinking ahead about what would happen if something unforeseen were to happen, and has some resources put aside in case of emergency. But what about those who can’t afford to do this? What will become of those people?
Lately, instead of hoarding food and supplies for myself, I have been putting the extra cash I find available into ‘homeless bags’ – canvas bags with emergency supplies like ‘space blankets’, granola bars, beef jerky, rope, lighters, etc. – which I carry in my Jeep, and whenever I see someone with a ‘homeless, please help’ sign, I am going to give them a bag or two, and ask them to share whenever they can, and use what they need and share with their friends (yes, homeless people have friends, and often live in hidden ‘camps’ just out of sight, in every city in our country, and I’m sure all over the world.) I’m not doing this to make myself feel better (although it does), I’m doing it because it’s the right thing to do. I even carry a bag of dog food in my Jeep, because homeless people have dogs, too!
Okay, I got a bit off topic, but it ties in to what I started off with – and this is just my opinion, of course, but I’ll bet many people will agree – we need to spend more time in the NOW, thinking about what will make us happy today, less time watching the mind-numbing TV News and worthless reality shows which are made so that we can live vicariously through the make-believe and ‘made-up-to-believe’ characters we see there, and find joy and happiness in our own lives. It really is the little things that mean the most – a hug from a loved one, time spent playing with our kids and animal companions, helping out a friend or anyone who needs our help, and even the time spent quietly contemplating all the beauty in the world.
There is much more that is beautiful in our world than ugly – much more love than hate, much more good than evil, and many more good people than bad. Sure, there are exceptions to this rule, but there are exceptions to every rule – that doesn’t make them the ‘norm’ – it just goes to show how much diversity this world has to offer. A very wise man once said “Happiness can be found in the darkest of places, if you only remember to turn on the LIGHT!”
Okay, that is the end of my rant. I am sorry if I didn’t bring you any dire news of impending disaster, or prophecies of the Antichrist, or reveal any insider plans of the NWO to steal from us and make slaves of us all – I know that is what BIN seems to be best at these days – but I’m not concerned with that right now. Right now, I’m busy living, enjoying what I have, not regretting what I don’t have or have lost and cannot retrieve, nor am I buying into the fear spiral that seems to be so popular today. Maybe the world will end tomorrow – I just want to know that if it does, I will not have forgotten to LIVE FOR TODAY.
Remember what one of the wisest men ever to live said – “All You Need is LOVE“!
Peace.
