Mossberg pump, Taurus Judge or S&W .357. Good options for home defense in most cases, but not if you are this guy…
Neighbors who live in the Lakewood Grove subdivision in Tomball are on edge after a violent home invasion in the community overnight on Monday.
The homeowner and suspects fired back and forth more than a dozen times, according to Precinct 4 deputy constables.
Investigators say it was just after midnight, the homeowner was alone and asleep but woke up when his front door was kicked in. The homeowner saw his front door kicked in, but had a weapon on him.
Assistant Chief Mark Herman said, “The homeowner ended up in fear for his life. He discharged his weapon multiple times. The suspects returned fire. We haven’t confirmed anyone was hit.”

I think we can all agree that if he was armed with a shotgun or 6 shot revolver he very well could have been at a disadvantage given the scenario. Some will argue shot placement vs spray and pray methodology but I don’t think any of us are aware of the dynamics of the actual event and I’m quite surprised (should I be?) at the willingness of the intruders to “shoot it out” with the homeowner.
In any event I know that I’m content having multiple options at my disposal which would allow me to stay in the fight should something like this occur. Do you?

Semi-auto pistol with a high capacity magazine. The 9mm is a puny round, in my opinion, but many 9mm’s have a 19 round capacity. If you are relying on the “spray & pray” method, that’s a plus. Some tactical shot guns have a 9 round capacity as well. I believe the best gun is the one you are the most comfortable with. Confidence brings accuracy in shot placement which is the most important thing in winning a gun fight. One well placed shot with even a 22LR beats 6 misses with a .44 magnum.
(A lot of folks feel that a pistol is only used to fight your way to your “long gun”)
shotgun or revolver?? I utilize both and throw in a semiauto handgun!
The old school trick was the M-1 Carbine: use the M-2 30 shot mags and only load them to half way- eases the strain on the mag spring and they will stay ok for a LONG time.
Light recoil and better than a pistol at any reasonable “combat” range, which is why Uncle had it designed.
If you have the M1A1 folding stock, so much the better.
The only folks that are going to kick in your door in the middle of the night and get into a gunfight with you are one of the following:
1. Cops (Feds, State, Local, etc.).
2. Spooks
3. Cartels you owe money to.
Most likely so!
Gotta be a lot more to this than what is said. “Home invaders” don’t come looking for a firefight. Only cops or assassins do that. This was no simple robbery attempt. This guy was more likely the target of some punitive action from someone that didn’t like him much….
