(Thomas Dishaw) If you’re unaware with the situation in Venezuela you need to start paying attention. Food rationing, ID cards, fingerprints for food and lack of basic staples have ravaged this country to the point of destruction. Don’t think it could happen here? Think again.
Most Americans have only dealt with a food crisis when a weather event hits their region. Everyone goes to the grocery store when a huge snowstorm or hurricane hits, wiping out shelves of toilet paper, bottled water, meat and perishables, leaving the few who came late to empty shelves and having to improvise their purchases to fit their needs. This is what we call a crisis in America. We have been spoiled, and we expect a truck full of groceries to arrive the next day, and everyone will be on their merry way. But what happens when the next truck doesn’t come, and wont for a few days, a week, or even a month? Are you prepared? Probably not.
Don’t be embarrassed, most of us aren’t. Thinking in these terms get you labeled a conspiracy theorist, survivalist, or even worst a ”doomsday prepper”.
The truth is stranger than fiction, and thankfully pictures don’t lie so you can’t argue with the facts presented below. A food crisis is quickly approaching this nation. We have already seen it with the severe droughts that have hit the west coast. Catastrophic snow storms like the ones that battered most of the U.S. this past winter, or the products of socialism that currently has Venezuelans starving for food, or even unforeseen events such as nuclear or EMP attacks could also contribute. It will happen, it’s just a matter of time.
Preparation is the key. You can start small by slowly stocking up at the grocery store, purchasing small amounts of goods every week, or you can go the more economical route by purchasing from a few of the best storable food companies.
