How to Protect your Family When they Take your Guns Away

(Before It's News)

As you’re probably aware, the gun grab is one of the things that is sure to happen in case of Martial Law or even a small-scale disaster. Authorities say they do it because they want to protect us but, in reality, they’re living patriots defenseless against looters, angry mobs and law enforcement impersonators.

Sure, there are preppers out there who will do anything to keep their guns but what if that doesn’t work? If there’s one thing survival teaches us is to have plans B and C to everything.

Well, in this article I’m going to give you plans all the way to the letter Z because I have for you a great collection of alternative weapons you can use to protect yourself and your family. Some of them are everyday items, others are non-firearms weapons.

On my blog over at SurvivalSullivan.com I decided to take a different approach to prepping. I’m trying to find ways to be 100% protected and 100% legal at the same time. This article is one of those ways and, hopefully, you’ll enjoy it.

Without further ado, here’s the full list:

  • Bow and arrow. You can never go wrong with those two and you an easily make as many of them as you want. All you need is a string, a long piece of wood and a knife.
  • Wasp or bee spray. Keep a can next to your front door so you have quick access to it if the person ringing the doorbell starts attacking you.
  • Axes. No Government is going to take away your right to split wood. Get as many axes because you might need them for more than just daily chores.
  • Pitchforks. Needless to say, pitchforks can help keep an attacker at distance and inflict serious damage. It’s probably not the best idea to keep them inside the house but, nevertheless, if you have a barn or a backyard, you can always keep one handy.
  • Boomerangs. These are useful for hunting too, you just need to practice. Oh, and make sure you don’t sharpen the edges as they could hurt you when the boomerang returns and you have to catch it. The point of the boomerang is to knock your opponent with blunt force.
  • Knives. If the law allows it, I suggest you keep a small folding knife with you at all times, even if you live in an urban area. But, more importantly, you should learn how to use it.
  • Tasers. If you’re a lady, you should probably have one in your purse with you at all times. In fact, why not get a taser or a can of pepper spray for each purse you have, so you don’t have to move them around? This will not only ensure you’re always protected but will avoid raised eyebrows when people see you with them.

OK, those are some pretty good alternative weapons right? But it gets better. I’ve got a second list for you with a few examples of everyday items which can be turned into weapons. Useful when you don’t have any of the ones enumerated above:

  • your car keys;
  • dirt (you just throw it in your attacker’s eyes to blind him just enough to escape);
  • rocks (obviously);
  • a brush or a comb;
  • a mug;
  • fire extinguishers;
  • high-heel shoes;
  • a vase;
  • a pen;
  • …and even a lollipop!

By the way, to use the lollipop, squeeze it inside your fist, with the plastic stick standing out from between your fingers. That way you can just punch your opponent as you normally would, only this time you have a much better chance of cutting him (provided you aim sensitive a body part such as his eyes, neck, ears or cheeks).

So, if you don’t have a firearm nor a real weapon at your disposal, any sharp object or heavy object will do. It all depends what you’re preparing for. My suggestion would be to take a look at the first list, that of alternative survival weapons, and try to build a few of them, then learn to use them.

The biggest mistake you could make is to wait until disaster strikes and gangs of angry mobs and looters start ruling the streets. Under that kind of pressure and with limited supplies, making a weapon will be extremely difficult.

Last but not least, I advise you to learn a few basic self-defense moves. These will come in handy when you have absolutely no weapon. Things like learning to escape a bear hug or knowing all the best places to kick an opponent from close distance should be remembered and practiced.

Good luck and stay safe!

Dan

P.S. If you want to know more about alternative survival weapons, you may want to check out this article I wrote a while back.

  • Learn to make a fricking gun, it’s not that bloody difficult,.. a few plumbing supplies, hell you probably have some laying around the house right now!
    In the event the SHTF situation, an abandoned house is a veritable gold mine to make a gun!

  • If you let them take your guns, you have already failed to protect your family.

    • are you willing to have your family slaughtered to protect “THE GUNS THEY KNOW ABOUT”??

      • Just make sure to have guns they don’t know about. It isn’t really that hard. Thousands of criminals and gang bangers do it every day. And most of them are stoned or stupid or both…
