(Before It's News)
I’ve made a few home purchases lately that I am so excited about. I’ve got a certain look in my mind and I’m slowly working towards it. Ryan and I agree that we love the look and feel of a country home. We enjoy simple, crisp, clean details with a balance between older country and modern touches. It took us a while to figure all of that out! I love a country kitchen with modern appliances. There’s a very delicate balance between the two, but I think it looks fabulous when it’s pulled off properly.
Every single decision we have made for the new home has been weighed and thought out carefully. Instead of jumping at the first thing we like, we sit back and wait. We think on the details for weeks until we decide what we really want and what will function best for our family.
I actually decided on my bedding months ago. I knew from the beginning that I wanted a simple, white quilt for our master bedroom. Nothing over the top and something that could be washed often. I wanted to be able to use bleach as needed to keep it looking nice and clean. My family is rough on just about everything, but I wanted our master bedroom to be our retreat after a long day. I want it to feel calm, clean, and simply beautiful. I am OCD and I can relax when everything is clean and in order.
I finally found the right bedding on sale this week! I had a gift card that I used, it was on sale, I used a discount code, and received free shipping. You can’t beat that! Normally, this bedding is $139.99 and I paid $34.99. You can find it {
HERE}. I also bought the matching shams. I like that I can add in decorative throw pillows to match the seasons and holidays. It has so much versatility and I believe it will work well for us.
I also purchased my white dishes. Since I post recipes for y’all and food really photographs well on white dishes, I knew that these had just enough detail without going overboard. I cannot wait to try some new recipes for y’all on these new dishes. Even if you’re not a food blogger, white dishes are a must have for entertainment purposes. White serving dishes give everything a simple elegance at any meal. If you have friends or family over, showcase your food without overwhelming with patterned dishes.
With all of the money I saved, I bought new towels as well. I again wanted something that I could bleach from time to time. I have dirty guys in my house and they are really rough on lighter colored towels. I can keep these looking better longer since they are white. I can still bring in pops of color in the bathrooms with colored hand towels. But our every day items need to be something I can clean better! You can find these on sale {HERE}. They are normally $9.99 each!
I want simple neutral colors throughout our home so that I can bring in colorful accents and switch them out year round. I don’t want to be tied to just one or two colors throughout the home. I want the flexibility to switch things up.
How often do you shop for new linens and bedding? What colors work best for you and your family?
