Who needs the geek squad with the long lines and high repair costs. Check this out. It looks simple to replace the screen on this HP Envy 15 laptop. I had no idea this is so darn easy, if done very carefully of course.
It’s time for me to replace the screen with black lines going across, up on the top right side the display, making it impossible to see behind in some spots now.
With the intel i7 quad core in there, this baby is sure worth saving no doubt about it, for like 60 or 80 bucks DIY sounds great to me. I can’t wait to get started on this. I just have to order replacement screen. I wish all of the DIY’ers out there the best of luck on this if you try this also, looks like piece of cake to do.
Update: I removed the screen on the HP Envy 15 last night and ordered the new one. Taking the old screen out went pretty good. Patients and a little time is all it takes. That tape hiding the bottom screw in the corners, just lifted it with a knife and peeled it off, remember, under that tape is two screws, only the one outer one needs to be removed. The new screen was only 43 bucks with free shipping. I’ll update this when I’m done. Oh yeah, It’s the thick clear tape that needs to be cafefully pulled back to remove the connector, on mine anyway, may vary, careful, careful with that part too.
All done. Installing the new screen was easier than removing the old one. All in all, If one’s careful and takes their time and refers to vid from time to time as you go along, cake!!
