In the world of DIYs, few builds receive more love (attention) and fanfare than kitchen gadgets & widgets. This DIY is no different.
Making a cutting board from scrap wood is a fun project. BUT, I strongly recommend that you research the wood you’ll be using for this build.
Chemical treatments to the wood will have a direct affect on the food you’ll prepare on the board you’ll be building. Personally, I like using scraps of untreated natural woods.
Also, there are a few food-grade oils you can use for finishing the board such as corn oil, cottonseed oil, soybean oil, and specific-grade mineral oil.
