Salary Cap Appeals by Redskins, Cowboys Dismissed

The NFL’s motion to dismiss the grievances filed by the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys that penalized them for their use of the salary cap during the uncapped season of 2010 was granted by Special Master Stephen Burbank, league counsel Jeff Pash said Tuesday, according to a report on the NFL’s website.
The dismissal means the league’s decision to a $36 million cap reduction on Washington and a $10 million on Dallas, each over the next two years, is upheld.
In a joint statement the two franchises indicated they would not pursue any further legal action. “We pursued our salary cap claim pursuant to the CBA and we respect and will abide by the arbitrator’s decision to dismiss,” the statement read. “We will continue to focus on our football teams and the 2012 season.”
