[topic]SYDNEY—Security company director, Kevin Nohra was amazed by the beauty and colours portrayed in Shen Yun. He went to see the show at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre on Saturday evening, May 5.
“It’s amazing, it’s something different, but it’s beautiful, the colours are good, there are stories to every dance. It’s amazing!” Kevin expressed.
Based in New York, Shen Yun aims to revive ancient Chinese culture through classical Chinese dance and music. Each piece is skilfully set against a digital backdrop, transporting audience members to another world.
“I love the digital background, it’s amazing because it brings you into the real thing, it’s a beautiful Chinese background with mountains and everything and I love the style of it.” Kevin said.
Shen Yun takes audience members on a journey throughout China’s 5,000 year old history through ancient heroic legends and modern courageous tales. Kevin felt especially connected to the present-day piece depicting the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, noting a parallel to his profession.
“I liked this story The Choice because it’s something more modern, we understand this, with people trying to have a better life but are being brought into the bad side of life. So I found that intriguing and I related it to the security industry, the bad and the good”.
Touched by their courage, he added: “You never should stop and never let go of your future and your dreams just because other people have different rules and different ideas in life, so always keep on trying.”
