‘Romeo and Juliet’: American Ballet Theatre
Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy about two star-crossed lovers is brought to life by American Ballet Theatre in one of its signature productions. Set to music by Sergei Prokofiev and with choreography by Sir Kenneth MacMillan, formerly of the Royal Ballet in London. Approximately 3 hours.

‘Anna Bolena’: Live in HD
An introduction into the mighty world of opera, the Metropolitan Opera will beam a live performance of Donizetti’s 1830 opera “Anna Bolena” into local movie theaters with high-definition video. The live performance was previously recorded last October and tells the story of the ill-fated English queen and wife of Henry VIII. 3 hours, 10 minutes.

‘As You Like It’: Shakespeare in the Park
Now in its 50th year, the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park presents this romantic comedy that follows Rosalind, the daughter of an exiled French duke, on her adventure into the Forest of Arden. Broadway star Lily Rabe plays Rosalind. Directed by Daniel Sullivan.

For the New York Philharmonic’s season finale, Grammy-winning classical pianist Emanuel Ax is featured on an all-Mozart program that includes Piano Concerto No. 22 and Mass in C minor (“Great”). Alan Gilbert conducts. Other featured performers include soprano Jennifer Zetlan, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano, tenor Paul Appleby, and baritone Joshua Hopkins.

North Italian Paintings from the Accademia Carrara, Bergamo
Called a jewel among Italian museums, the Accademia Carrara is closed for renovation, an unintended boon for New Yorkers. Because of the closure, the museum has been able to lend New York 15 masterpieces by Venetian and north Italian painters of the 15th and 16th centuries, including works by Bellini, Titian, and Lorenzo Lotto.

Beauties of the Gilded Age: Peter Marié’s Miniatures of Society Women
These nearly 300 watercolor-on-ivory miniatures are portraits of women believed epitomize female beauty. They were commissioned by New York socialite Peter Marié, between 1889 and 1903, amid the rapid development and luxury of America’s Gilded Age. The fragile and rarely exhibited portraits will be displayed in four-month rotations.
