Spektr-R Zenit 2 rocket tumbling from Ralf Vandebergh on Vimeo.
Ralf Vandebergh captured this unique show made by a Zenit rocket second stage. The rocket was recorded passing through the field of Ralf’s 10 inch Newtonian telescope, while it was tumbling. This rocket launched the Russian Spektr-R radiotelescope in July of 2011.
“I think this is amazing footage of the tumbling behavior of a Zenit second stage (here from the Spektr-R launch last year). Image data is in the animation and it’s local time. Flashing was very high rate naked eye.”
