Astronaut Neil A. Armstrong, who in 1969 became the first man to walk on the moon, died Saturday. He was 82. Selected with NASA’s second group of astronauts in 1962, Armstrong first flew in space as command pilot of Gemini 8 before commanding the first lunar landing mission, Apollo 11. He died following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures.
